"I heard about Padre from a friend of mine who had gotten stable after fighting with her depression for years. I felt very comfortable, safe, and was treated with respect by all the staff. I made great progress in handling my depression. Thanks to Padre, I am back home and doing so much better."

Adult Psychiatric Acute Treatment Program

Padre Behavioral Hospital’s Adult Psychiatric Program is designed to provide crisis stabilization services for adults who require psychiatric care in a secure and stable setting. Crisis stabilization treatment is intense and focused with the goal of enabling each individual to reestablish a level of functioning that allows them to return to their daily lives while continuing their treatment in a less restrictive level of care.

The Adult Psychiatric Treatment Program typically serves adults 18 years and older who are experiencing severe psychiatric symptoms and problems which may include:

  • Depressive disorder/ Bipolar disorder
  • Emotional / Behavioral disorder
  • Psychotic disorder
  • Eating disorder
  • Anxiety disorder/ Post traumatic stress disorder

Treatment Program Components

  • Medication and health monitoring
  • Individual, group, and family therapy
  • Education and goal setting
  • Support groups
  • Psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis

  • Discharge and aftercare planning

Under the supervision of a psychiatrist, licensed therapist, licensed nurse, and other unit staff, patients are assisted in identifying their own issues that contribute to anxiety, depression, or conflict that impair their ability to function. Once these issues are identified then a specific individualized treatment plan is developed to help guide each patient through the therapeutic process and back to a healthy level of functioning.

Treatment Program Goals / Outcomes:

  • To assist the adult patient in the resumption of normal life activity at home, school, work, and with the community.
  • To assist the individual with regulating and maintaining medication regency.
  • To educate the adult and family about social, community, and vocational recovery available to help them maintain a satisfactory level of functioning after discharge and to help establish connections with those resources as part of each patients aftercare plan.
  • To assist the individual in maintaining their optimal level of function by reducing or alleviating the level of stress and conflict in their lives.

Partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient Program

Padre Behavioral Hospital offers those individuals that have progressed to a point they no longer need a level of treatment that requires hospitalization, or that did not meet the criteria for inpatient hospitalization to begin with, a unique opportunity to attend therapy, at the hospital, in our Partial Hospital Program or Intensive Outpatient Program. These programs allow an individual to be in a therapeutic environment during the day and return home during the evening. The advantage of this type of programming is that it provides an opportunity to take those skills learned in therapy and to practice them in real life situations.

Comprehensive treatment includes:

  • Group therapy sessions daily
  • Activity and creative arts therapy
  • Evaluation by a psychiatrist weekly
  • Psychiatric evaluation and consultation
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Community education
  • Professional education
